MARESCA SALUTES HIS YOUNG FOXES

The Foxes established a 2-0 half-time lead after goals from Cesare Casadei and Ricardo Pereira, before Duncan Watmore pulled one in the second half. Tom Cannon reasserted Leicester’s two-goal cushion, before Zian Flemming set up a nervy finish the Foxes saw out.

Maresca made seven changes from the line-up that defeated Huddersfield in the league on New Year’s Day and Maresca said: “It was a tricky game in terms of many reasons, probably the main reason is because we made so many changes.

“We had a very young first XI – we had seven of our 11 players born after 2000 – so it was a tricky game, but overall we created chances, we scored three and could have had more.

“In the first half we conceded too much because we were not pressing in the perfect way.
