Most break-ins last only 10 minutes. While security signs are a great way to deter these quick strikes, Brandon King of Home Security Heroes says to "skip those that are counterfeit versions of companies like ADT or Brinks because burglars can spot fakes-there's always a 'tell,' like a mismatched logo." Instead, try generic signs from home-improvement stores like ones that say: "This home is protected by video surveillance." It's impossible to know if these are fake, so thieves will move on.
