This issue, we give thanks to our NSmen as we reflect on how far we've come in 53 years as a nation and how important national service is to the defence of our country. This year, SAFRA has introduced a series of "We Thank NSmen" initiatives, including art sessions for preschool children to learn about NS and give cards of appreciation to their NSman fathers; a competition to design GIFs that pay tribute to NSmen; a neon edition of the SAFRA Sprint Kids competition; and special SAF Day Deals offered by SAFRA and more than 110 partnering merchants. Two personalities whom we feature this issue, ShopBack co-founder Joel Leong and SAFRA Management Committee member Andy Tan, share their respective philosophies in business and in volunteering. For Joel, his commando training during NS laid the foundation for him to be unwavering in his pursuit of excellence in the field of e-commerce; for Andy, his passion for volunteering still burns strongly after nearly 15 years as a SAFRA volunteer, and he is proud to be leading the development committee that's responsible for the seventh and newest SAFRA club in Choa Chu Kang, expected to be fully operational by 2022.
