It was part of the National Ploughing Championships, which took place on Sunday October 15 near Bishops Lydeard, Somerset, and was well supported by CPM readers. The editor was there to see it happen
The West Country is a hive of good crawler men and a number are part of the ploughing scene in this area: they certainly added something to the National Ploughing Championships. Held in dull morning conditions that later turned to sunshine, an excellent crowd of 12,000 people watched the new era of the Society of Ploughmen’s major event.
