After scorching the screen with their chemistry in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor steam up the pages of Filmfare,.
A coffee shop of a swank hotel is our meeting place for our annual gabfest. Heads swivel as they see her, followed by the glimmer of recognition. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has always made heads turn. Like she did 20 years ago when I first met her for her maiden interview for Filmfare. Interviews, photo shoots, award nights and long breaks notwithstanding, I’ve watched her morph from a young gazelle to a complete star. And it’s gratifying because the warmth is still intact. She made heads turn too at the photoshoot where she turned the heat on with co-star Ranbir Kapoor for Filmfare. Hair perfectly in place, her beautiful face woos the still camera and the results make us all happy. When she shoots it’s as if time has frozen and we’re back in the ’ 90s. Nothing has changed. Only datelines and milestones. She’s a mother now.
She’s married into the hi-profile Bachchan family that’s been in the public space for several decades now. She herself is high profile. I’ve lost count of the interviews we’ve done and it’s always been fun. Pleasantries exchanged, some gossip traded and we are back to business and I ask her about Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (ADHM) and more...
