As a self confessed nostalgic collector, this homeowner presents a new take on eclecticism
Visual feast The light-filled living room of this apartment is an emporium of beautiful objects, including an Osvaldo Borsani sofa and a gold-framed mirror that came with the property. Layered effect Panels of porcelain and ceramic tiles (opposite) came from Cristina’s Plumage collection that she designed for BottegaNove, which exhibited at last year’s Milan Furniture Fair.
who lives here?

View point The living room’s three big windows were a major selling point for Cristina. She has placed two Joe Colombo lounge chairs next to a 1967 floor lamp by Kartell. Grand entrance A collection of Sipario glass items on an onyx shelf provide a little drama upon entering the apartment. Shelf preservation Cristina left all of the property’s original features intact, including the old fireplace (opposite), with her own decor only adding to their character.
seamless ways to mix old and new design
More is more when it comes to mixing old and new pieces! Don’t be afraid to pair contrasting eras and textures, such as a vintage chandelier over a contemporary table or a modernist lamp perched on an ornate mantelpiece. Keep one common thread between the pieces for harmony, be it a similar shape, material or colour.
