Padma Bhushan Dr Jamshed J Irani, fondly called the Steel Man of India, passed away at Tata Main Hospital in Jamshedpur on Monday. Dr Irani was associated with Tata Steel for over four decades. He retired from the board of Tata Steel in 2011, leaving behind a legacy of 43 years that won him and the company international acclaim. He served as the MD of Tata Iron and Steel Company (now Tata Steel) from 1992 till he retired in 2001.
