A PLYMOUTH woman has told a court how she feels "like a prisoner in the one place I should feel safe".
The man who burgled her home is set to be sentenced later this month after he failed to attend his sentencing hearing.
Gareth Treharne appeared online at Plymouth Crown Court while in prison custody on August 4 where he admitted two counts of burglary with intent to steal, two counts of burglary, one count of taking a car without the owner's consent and one count of possession of class A heroin. It is understood there was confusion over whether he should attend in person or via online link.
Treharne, aged 46, of George Place, Stonehouse, was arrested by police following what police said were a series of incidents at a property in Garfield Terrace, Stoke.
Investigators said the occupant was a heavily disabled woman who was in the property at the time of the alleged offences. A number of items went missing from the property on the evening of June 26 into the following morning.
