Caravan adorned by city artist in Ukraine

A CARAVAN which has been adorned by a Plymouth graffiti artist is now serving as a medical centre not far from the front line of Ukraine’s war with Russia, after being delivered by a city businessman on his latest aid mission.

Andreas Evangelou pulled the caravan – which was filled with supplies – all the way to Kyiv on his latest trip, which was his sixth journey to help people in the war-torn nation.

The caravan was adorned with a message which saying ‘Devon and Cornwall stand with Ukraine’ along with stylised versions of flags representing the three locations.

Mr Evangelou said it was due to be taken on to a Ukrainian base not far from the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant and is being used as a medical centre, but only after it was emptied of donations.

Among his cargo for his latest trip were footballs, football kit and goalposts from Plymouth Argyle and Saints South West coach Adam Hayman, which are now being used by a summer camp which is providing some respite for children orphaned by the war.

Food for the kitchens and even video games consoles donated by generous Plymouth families were also part of the haul of donations delivered to the camp. Mr Evangelou said he went on to take medical supplies and even pet food to other locations including Kyiv, where the caravan itself was left.
