In this guide I’ll give you some tips and tricks to help you get started.

SET UP YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

You might have a home studio, you might shoot on location and have a home office to do your retouching work in, or you might just grab a chair at the dining room table. But wherever you work, you need to make it a place that’s inviting and easy to concentrate in (so, try to make the dining room table the last possible option!). The ideal scenario is to have a work space that’s separate from your family life, so that you can walk out of the room at the end of the day and not let it infringe on your evening.

It's also important to set your work space up in a way that feels comfortable to you. If you prefer to work sitting in an armchair as opposed to at a desk, that’s fine. The space needs to be somewhere you feel comfortable and focused in.

DEALING WITH DISTRACTIONS

It can be hard to deal with distractions when you're working on your own, both from other people and from ourselves. Here are some tips on how to minimise them:
