EU countries might finally gain access to Apple Intelligence features thanks to a new agreement between the US, EU, and UK on AI regulation.
NEW AI REGULATION AGREEMENT OFFERS HOPE FOR APPLE INTELLIGENCE IN THE EU

Four regulatory bodies have united to adopt “common principles” for addressing antitrust concerns in AI products and services, though some aspects could pose challenges for Apple.

APPLE INTELLIGENCE SET TO LAUNCH WITHOUT EU COUNTRIES

Later this year, Apple Intelligence features will launch, but EU countries were initially excluded due to regulatory uncertainties. Last month, Apple announced:

“Due to the regulatory uncertainties brought about by the Digital Markets Act, we do not believe that we will be able to roll out three of these [new] features — iPhone Mirroring, SharePlay Screen Sharing enhancements, and Apple Intelligence — to our EU users this year.”

Meta echoed this sentiment with a similar announcement.

POTENTIAL AID FROM NEW AI REGULATION AGREEMENT

The recent joint statement by the EU’s European Commission, the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority, the US Department of Justice, and the US Federal Trade Commission shows a commitment to adopting “common principles” for AI regulation. These principles are intended to enable competition and foster innovation through fair dealing, interoperability, and choice.

However, the agreement also notes that each party will interpret these principles independently:
