The Lion Mums star on her co-star Fir Rahman, how she has fun on set, and who would make a nice addition to the show.
8 DAYS: There was a two-year break between Seasons 1 and 2 of Lion Mums. Was it easy to get back to playing ambitious working mum Durrani?
NURUL AINI: There wasn’t much preparation — it all came naturally to me. I've been waiting so eagerly for the second season because Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger. And we all knew there was going to be another season when we wrapped up on the first one.
If the show returns for a third season, which actress would make a good Lion Mum?
What a question! I think Oon Shu An would make a very good Lion Mum. She's got the very fierce look so I feel she can pull off a tiger mum but at the same time [imbue] her character with a playful element.
What do you make of Chae Lian, the new character played by Lina Ng? Do you approve of her tiger mum approach to parenting?
I'm on the fence about her character. There are certain things that are good, like how she pushes her children. I want to be more like that. She's willing to quit her job and focus her life entirely on her children. Not everyone can do that. But there are some things she does on the show that are too extreme, like caning her child in front of people. I will never ever do that to my children. I don't think violence is the way, even if it gets the job done.
Are you a tiger mum to your two kids?
