Trekkers putting pressure on fragile Himalayas: Experts
As many as four avalanches have hit western Himalayas in Uttarakhand in just a fortnight - September 22, October 1, October 2, and October 4. After the hiatus due to pandemic, the mountains are witnessing heightened pressure this year, as a large number of trekkers and mountaineers head to hills. Glaciologists and ecologists are worried about this adding to the pressure on the fragile Himalayas.
45 Indians trapped in fake job rackets in Myanmar rescued
India on Wednesday said it has rescued around 45 Indians trapped in fake job rackets in Myanmar. The information was shared by external affairs ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi. "Thanks to the efforts of @IndiainMyanmar & @IndiainThailand, around 32 Indians had already been rescued. Another 13 Indian citizens have now been rescued, and reached Tamil Nadu today," tweeted Bagchi.
