A CAMPAIGN has been launched to save a youth club in Ernesettle. SPACESHOT Youth Project has been a safe place for young people in the area since 1996 but it has announced its closure due to a lack of funding. The news has left its members and the local community dismayed.
For many youngsters, the youth club was an important part of their lives. Some of those who used it, including 16-year-old Jay Connaughton, are now fighting against the closure.
Jay and his siblings all attended the youth club and now the teenager says he feels ‘gutted’ for the future generations that will not have the opportunity to be part of the club. The building itself has also been a huge part of many young people’s childhoods, supporting three generations over the years through many emotional and physical challenges.
