When Devonshire A played Ivybridge B, it was the consistent play from the home team that was the main difference in their win.

Despite losing the first set, Devonshire’s Tom Chiappe and George Welbourne bounced back to take control of the second match with both of them volleying well.

By all accounts the Ivybridge captain Jake Freeman set a new P and D record of at least ten shirt changes during the second match but that wasn’t enough to stop Devonshire winning 71-14.

On a windy evening with the sun playing havoc, there was a close match between St Budeaux A and Tavistock A. Martin Hall and Adam Greenhalgh, in only their second league match together, did well to take Rhys and Pete to a tie break in the first set, but Tavistock won 57-38.

Ivybridge A played Mannamead A in a great match with good volley duels and Ivybridge scraping the win 55-48.

In Division 2 Tavistock B had a very close match against Hill Lane A and just managed to win 51-46, while Plympton A played St Budeaux B where Max Hembry and Gary Symons won the sets for St Budeaux, but Plympton won 58-27.

Looe A played Newton & Noss A and won 68-15.

In Division 3, Hill Lane B lost 50-53 to Yelverton A in a match with five tie breaks, while Mannamead C could only field one pair against St Budeaux C, but fortunately for Mannamead, Varun Philip and Chris Welland were too strong for St Budeaux C.

In a battle between the two teams relegated last year, Mannamead B beat Plympton B 72-19.
