A MAN who drove along Embankment Road in Plymouth at speeds up to 101mph and the A38 at around 140mph before crashing his vehicle into a row of cars in St Budeaux has been jailed.
Matthew Yorke - also known as Matthew Clarke had pleaded guilty to a number of offences following the incident on the evening of May 24 this year, and at Plymouth Crown Court a video was shown of the high-speed police chase across the city.
Prosecutor Ryan Murray told the court how the owner of Volkswagen Golf GTD left his car at Devil's Point car park to go paddleboarding. However, he decided to put his keys back into his car, along with his wallet, supposedly for safekeeping. When he returned later, the car was gone.
