MIDFIELDER HELPS GREENS TO THE TITLE WITH IMPORTANT EQUALISER AT PORT VALE

Randell: Pilgrims are back where they belong!"

MIDFIELDER Adam Randell declared that Plymouth Argyle were back where they belonged as he celebrated winning the League One title with his hometown club.

The Pilgrims are returning to the Championship after a 13-year absence, during which time they almost went out of business and very nearly dropped out of the Football League.

Now, Argyle are flying high after a second promotion in four seasons and Randell played a big part in their incredible success this term.

It was the 22-year-old who scored the for equaliser Argyle as they came from behind to win 3-1 away to Port Vale in their final match and then up the picked League One winners' trophy in front of a 4,000-strong travelling Green Army.

Randell told Plymouth Live: "it doesn't get much better does it? I honestly don't know what to say, it's just incredible.

"You always have the belief that you can go to achieve things but when you actually go and do it, it's something different. I'm so thankful to the staff and the lads for all the effort they have put in - along with me to get us back where we belong."

The win against Port Vale was Argyle's 31st out of 46 games and took their points tally to 101, leaving them three clear of runners-up Ipswich Town, who drew 2-2 away to Fleetwood Town in their final gameof the campaign.

Randell said: "It's incredible 101, isn't it? You would never have thought we would get that. We were setting targets throughout the whole season, what we wanted to achieve, and we have just smashed through every single one of them. Over 100 points, it blows my mind, it really does.

"Lifting that trophy, I'm not sure I have lifted something so big as that! It was an unbelievable moment and I will definitely cherish that forever."
