With play starting at 6pm and seven tie breaks played they only just finished before the lights went out at 10pm.
Devonshire A team beat their B team 70-16, while Yelverton’s Megan Woock made her A team debut and played consistently well to help her team to a 51-41 win over Mannamead B.
Yelverton B enjoyed their win of the season in Division 2 where Jenny Whybrow and Sandy Johnson had two long matches in the heat, while there was a first draw for the season when Ivybridge A played Tavistock A and both teams ended up with 45 points.
It was a hard fought match with lengthy games when Plympton B played their A team. The close final score reflected a great evening of tennis as the A team just won 54-46.
In Division 3, Menheniot A beat Mannamead C 72-21, Devonshire C lost to Hill Lane A 19-72 and Plympton C lost to Looe A 32-58.
Long rallies led to a long evening and the lights going on when Hill Lane B played leaders Tavistock B in Division 4, who won 57-39, while the score didn’t reflect the play with many long rallies and deuces as Yelverton C lost 27-69 to Ivybridge B and Looe B beat St.Mellion A 54-35.
Plymstock’s second pair of Jane Williams and Debbie Bauckham won their first ever match as a pair 63-26 when they played Looe C. Special mention goes to Looe’s Renata Oakes, who played despite only having flown in from Spain that afternoon.
It was another closely-fought match for the Tavistock C team, but they were beaten 50-38 by Menheniot B. Some good tennis played by both sides but Menheniot’s second pair proved too difficult to defeat.
Tavistock’s new D team is growing in confidence with each game and they faced a tough battle when they played Saltash A before winning 58-43.
