Meeting David Blue for the first time feels like getting reacquainted with an old friend. He’s instantly engaged and his neighborly demeanor creates a welcoming space. At this point, it doesn’t even feel like I’m here to interview him, but more to have a nice afternoon chat over coffee.
Originally from New York, and raised in Florida, David became interested in the entertainment industry at a young age. In 2nd grade, he played a rat in The Nutcracker.
“And by played, I mean I wore a rat nose and ran from one side of the stage to the other,” he said.
The stage and the theatrical community was always a welcoming outlet where he could play and have fun while in school and afterwards, with community theater. It wasn’t until college that he focused his sights on TV and Film as a profession, and according to David, he wouldn’t have it any other way.
“I’ve reconciled a long time ago that acting work makes me happier than anything. I’m happiest when I’m acting. I know myself well enough to know that.”
While he keeps his sights set high, he’s also an extremely grounded person. That combination only aids in his rising success. He’s blatantly aware that getting work and then maintaining that work as an actor is one of the toughest roads to take.
David brings forth his workaholic nature and paraphrases Morgan Freeman. “Everyone’s waiting in line to get in the same door. As long as you stay in that line, you’ll get through the door.”
He’s mindful of the fact that instant success doesn’t exist, or at the very least, that it doesn’t last. David is much more interested in the long-haul career, which his previous body of work and future projects speak for themselves.
