Chennai-based Firm Amuthasurabhi Architects Has Experiments With Materials, Colours and Forms That Has Resulted Into a Sumptuous Home for Captain Kpk Kannan in Chennai.
The high of flying a plane is quite an experience but on landing and heading home, to keep the spirits high, Captain KPK Kannan has built a beautiful bungalow in Chennai.
An open entrance with vertical garden leads to a semi-closed pathway, surrounded by greenery leading one to a porch of this 5,000 sq. ft., bungalow.
It is designed by Chennai based firm Amuthasurabhi Architects, and armed with a brief from a former pilot, who has travelled across the world, who wanted a comfortable residence with classy aesthetic elements.
The team has conceptualized a design where the traditional elements in turn complements the contemporary design. The spaces are interlinked through see-through partitions and double-height ceiling.
The entrance is finished with Volga blue granite, which reacts with the touch of light, creating a shimmering effect, adding to the excitement of exploring the residence more. The fixed seating cum-storage space on both sides of the entrance wall acts as the traditional `Thinnai’, with long lamp niches creating a warm welcome to the residence.
