Inimitable Concepts

Furncraft De’Collage (FDC) is owned and designed by Nitin Kohli of Kabir Design Inc., and is spread across a sprawling 6,000 sq. ft. area in Ambawatta One compound in Mehrauli, New Delhi. The interesting concept, wherein the store is fashioned as a home showcasing the various products they have on offer, is something that draws one to this store. This gives prospective customers an idea of how the furniture would look in a real setting. Speaking about the design concept, Nitin says, “I was always inclined to design, which started with me sketching furniture pieces on the back pages of my school notebooks. I finally realized this dream with Furncraft De’Collage in 2000 with support from my wife Seetu Kohli. Ironically, for this store, I was the designer and the client; I had been in conflict with myself on what to present to the world. The brief, I gave myself was to have a comfortable, easy-to-relate space with a soothing colour palette; a space meant for the clients to feel at home.”
