squirrels If you look closely, these squirrels look a lot like eastern gray that's because that's exactly what they are! The difference is that these white squirrels have albinism, a rare genetic mutation that causes the absence of melanin.

Eastern gray squirrels play an important role in gardening! That's because they hide so many nuts way more than they can actually eat that when spring comes along, those nuts will begin to sprout in the ground.
GRIZZLED GIANT SQUIRREL
FOUND IN: SRI LANKA
This large squirrel is arboreal, which means it spends almost all of its time in trees! They live in forests where they eat insects, nuts, bark and fruit. One unique trait is that they use their hind (back) feet for balance, while most giant squirrels use their tails.
