PRO STOCK 301- TO 400-CC OPEN
PUNE’S SARTHAK CHAVAN PUT IN A BLISTERINGLY QUICK late lap to take pole position in the Pro Stock 301- to 400-cc Open category with a lap-time of 1:48.373 seconds. Sarthak had his teammate and arch-rival, Chiranth V, accompany him on the front row in P2, ahead of Chennai’s Alwin Sundar of KTM Gusto Racing India. Alwin’s P3 caused quite a bit of talk in the paddock as he was faster than veterans and riders with more experience. Multiple-time national champion Rajini Krishnan also returned to racing action after not being present in the first two rounds of the championship.
In race one, pole-sitter Sarthak led from the start, closely followed by Chiranth. The duo pulled clean from the rest of the field and Sarthak hung on to a slender lead ahead of Chiranth. On the last lap, the 17-year-olds exchanged positions before Sarthak managed to get back in front for the last time. Going into the final turn, a right-hander, Chiranth made a hasty move, taking the outside, and tried to overtake Sarthak, but the effort failed and he crashed, leaving the latter as the undisputed winner. Chiranth managed to get up and finish 10th. In second spot, behind Sarthak, was P Sai Rahil (KTM Gusto Racing India), ahead of his teammate, Alwin Sundar.
