Sam Ke rr's FAMILY NIGHTMARE

THE MATILDAS STAR RACES HOME AFTER HORRIFIC ACCIDENT

What should have been a happy day of celebration for Sam Kerr turned into a devastating family drama, after her beloved grandmother, Coral, was critically injured in an accident outside her Perth home on December 28.

At the time, Sam, 31, and her pregnant fiancée Kristie Mewis were at her Matildas teammate Emily Van Egmond's wedding in NSW's Hunter Valley region. Sam's dad Roger was also in attendance.

During the reception, word came through that Coral, Roger's mother, had allegedly been hit by a ute as she got off a bus. The trio, along with Sam's mum Roxanne, dashed straight to Sydney Airport to catch the first available flight back to Perth.

Hospital for emergency treatment. As New Idea went to press, hospital staff said she was in “a stable condition”.
