The full version of Adobe Photoshop can appear daunting to a photography novice, and Photoshop Elements cuts to the chase by focusing on helping users to tackle common photo issues, such as removing colour casts or straightening tilted horizons. As Elements contains only essential photo-fixing tools, it’s far easier to master than the ‘full-fat’ version.
Elements’ Guided Edit modes give you easy access to the key tools that you need to help fix picture problems, including ‘smart’ tools powered by Adobe’s Sensei artificial intelligence. These enable you to give your shots a creative makeover without having to spend time tweaking settings and adjusting sliders. Elements also boasts a few distinct tools of its own, such as the new and social-media oriented Moving Photos effect.
You can buy Photoshop Elements 2021 on its own, or in an attractively priced twin-pack with Adobe’s equally user-friendly Premiere Elements 2021 video-editing software.
The Camera Raw workspace enables you to adjust colour, exposure and more to ensure optimum image quality
Key features
When you shoot multiple subjects – such as a family portrait – it can be a challenge to get everyone looking at the camera at the same time, and the Adjust Facial Features command now has a handy Face Tilt tool that enables you to tilt an individual’s head up a little, and also make them look more to the left or right. The results are subtle, but they can help you to salvage a group portrait that might otherwise look slightly disappointing.
