S&S Cycle recently sent us one of their new SuperStreet two-into-one exhaust systems for Harley-Davidson M8-powered Softails. As it was chrome, and Mick already has a ceramic black system on his Softail, it was soon headed in my direction.
I have a 2018 Deluxe that’s fitted with the 114” Stage III kit, Heavy Breather air cleaner, and stock headers with the Screamin’ Eagle Street Cannon mufflers. Logically It made sense to fit the S&S SuperStreet exhaust to my bike. I do have the touring gear for the Deluxe as well – same as used on the Heritage basically – so muffler clearance for under the leather saddlebags is a consideration when looking and choosing an exhaust.
The finish and style is always a factor with any exhaust system you may choose, I was glad that the S&S SuperStreet exhaust supplied was a fully chrome system that blended perfectly with the abundant chrome of the Deluxe.
IT’s A GOOD FIT
After the delivery of the exhaust through Rollies Speed Shop, the Australian supplier, I started to strip down the old exhaust and fit the new system. It’s a very straightforward job. A small complement of tools and the very comprehensive instructions from S&S made it very simple. There are a couple of things to note: The O2 sensors have to be swapped to the new pipes, make sure you are careful with this, they don’t like being abused. S&S supplies everything that is needed including new exhaust port gaskets. I had the job done in an hour and 20 minutes. Everything fitted up perfectly with no fiddly adjustments of any kind.
