Y&R: PHYLLIS BUSTS SALLY AND TARA

To get to the bottom of how Sally orchestrated Summer’s exit from Genoa City, Phyllis realizes that she must speak directly to fashion designer Angelina Marchetti, who Summer works for in Milan, without sounding like a meddlesome mom. When Phyllis discovers that Angelina is meeting with Eric Forrester in Los Angeles, she heads to the West Coast. “Phyllis arrives at Forrester Creations and finds Eric and Angelina together,” says Michelle Stafford (Phyllis). “Phyllis claims that she’s in L.A. on business and wanted to thank Angelina in person for giving Summer this wonderful job. ”

TIGIRLILY DISHES ABOUT Y&R APPEARANCE

On July 22, the country singing duo Tigirlily, which consists of sisters Kendra and Krista Slaubaugh, made their soap debut on Y&R playing themselves. “We signed with Monument Records a few months back, which is a division of Sony, and they said, ‘We have this idea of a cameo appearance of y’all on YOUNG AND RESTLESS. Are you okay with that?’ ” Kendra explains. “We said sure even though we’ve never done any acting. We’ve just been in music videos, but we thought that it would be so awesome. Plus we’ve never been to L.A. before, so we thought YOUNG AND RESTLESS was a great reason to go.”

With the arrival of Finn’s parents, Finn and Steffy move forward with their wedding plans. “This is a surprise visit,” reports Tanner Novlan (Finn) of Jack and Li’s arrival. “They knew the families would meet at some point but Jack seems to be chomping at the bit to come meet everybody, which is both a good sign but an interesting sign in the soap world — whenever someone shows up unannounced [laughs]. But, Finn is really happy to have his family there.”

Convinced that Sally and Tara conspired to make Summer leave Genoa City, Phyllis resolves to expose them. “Phyllis already doesn’t trust Sally at all,” notes Michelle Stafford (Phyllis). “Phyllis is like, ‘I know what you’re all about.’ And Phyllis thinks Tara is a lunatic, so to Phyllis, those two are a couple of mean girls. They took down Summer and now Phyllis wants blood.”

MEET GH'S NEW SPENCER

Nicholas Chavez made his Port Charles debut as Spencer Cassadine on July 1, but the Denver native’s journey to GH actually began back in April, when he sent in a self-tape audition. Shortly thereafter, “My manager reached out and said, ‘Hey, they’d like you to screen-test out in Los Angeles,’ which was amazing news and is kind of unusual in the industry, because it’s usually a self-tape, then an audition and then a callback and then you go screentest. To jump right from A to Z was a pretty daunting experience, and it all happened maybe within the span of a week.”

Though they’re supposed to be keeping their distance, Carter and Quinn can’t keep their hands off each other, and the guilt is getting the best of Carter. “They just feel safe with each other,” explains Lawrence SaintVictor (Carter). “No matter how much they try to deny each other — and they do try — they just can’t stop. Whatever this is, it is not going to just disappear, and they don’t know how to shake it. It’s impacting their personal lives, and their relationships with their family and friends. They just can’t put a stop to these feelings.”

Amanda is suspicious of Naya’s claim that she arranged the murder of Richard Nealon decades earlier, not Sutton. “It just felt like Naya was doing if for her dad and, based on her past patterns, a lot of her actions seem to be to appease Sutton and live up to his expectations, which included her giving up Amanda and Hilary,” explains Mishael Morgan (Amanda).

MEET DAYS'S RAVEN BOWENS

It’s been such a roller coaster,” reflects Raven Bowens of landing the job of DAYS’s Chanel. “I auditioned for it months back. It was a self-tape and I didn’t hear anything for weeks and so I had kind of given up on it. About a month or so later, I got a call for a chemistry read but I didn’t get the part. I was told it went down to the wire and it went another way and as actors, we hear that often [laughs]. I was like, ‘Whatever, they were just probably being nice’. So I was pretty sad about it and then all my team was hyping me and I thought, ‘You know what? I read Carol Burnett’s book a while back, and in her book she talked about how she couldn’t get arrested, she couldn’t get a job, and she kind of settled with herself and was like, “You know what? It wasn’t my turn. It was that other person’s turn.” ’ So I sent my agents that email and they said, ‘We love this, so moving on.’ A couple of weeks later, I booked THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL, so I was in New York and I was doing that show and then DAYS called and they offered me the role. It was pretty crazy.”

Carter struggles to pick up the pieces in the wake of the reveal about him and Quinn. “The heartbreak here is unbearable,” sighs Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter). “But, there’s also a weird sense of relief, like, ‘It’s finally over.’ The excruciating guilt of trying to hide something and not being able to keep eye contact when you’re in the same room, it was terrible, and at least that part is over.”
