The charm of this Carmel cottage proved so irresistible for Noelle and John Micek that they decided to make it their permanent home

When Noelle and John Micek went to view a potential holiday retreat in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, they never imagined that the pretty, whimsical cottage with beautiful windows and an ocean view would one day become their permanent home. ‘We’d been vacationing in Carmel for six years and had just sold our first holiday home there when we viewed this property,’ explains Noelle, an interior designer and owner of Noelle Micek Interiors. ‘We knew we wanted another holiday house in Carmel, because it’s such an eclectic place with an array of interesting properties, all with their individual charm. This house spoke to us the moment we saw it, and the ocean view certainly helped us make up our minds to live here full time.’
