National Green Tribunal (NGT) appointed a joint committee recommended ₹2 crore environmental compensation to be paid by the Telangana Irrigation department for taking up the works of Gouravelli reservoir without prior environmental clearance. Environmental compensation has to be paid to TSPCB or the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
