'Coal transition won't cause job losses'
India’s transition towards renewable energy will not necessarily lead to job losses in coal-dependent regions, provided the country implements proper systems and strategies, according to Ajay Mathur, Director-General of the International Solar Alliance (ISA). In an interview, Mathur emphasized that India’s shift away from coal doesn’t imply a complete elimination of the resource. Instead, India aims to reduce coal’s contribution to the energy mix from 50% to around 30% and achieve 500 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
