Canadians haven't lost their freedom
So many Canadians have complained about their lack of freedom. I started to hear about their bondage during COVID-19 restrictions. Folks were angry and, maybe, rightfully so, but those were unprecedented times. From masks to social distancing, it was a tough time, and no one likes to be told what to do or be mandated to do things they'd choose not to do. That's just human nature, I guess.

The new giant in the story of capitalism
The pandemic shifted my attention to the one thing we all need at different points in our lives, from cradle to grave: care. The human need for care is a constant, but the way we access it is rapidly changing, affecting almost everyone. And that, in turn, is affecting how the economy at large works.

Expectations about future cuts will impact housing sales, prices and construction activity.

Toronto craves external validation
If there's one thing people in Toronto love, it's the external validation represented by some U.S. franchise setting up shop here. Once upon a time it was the burrito buzz of Chipotle. Then there were the hours-long waits for a table at Cheesecake Factory. There was hype over the introduction of Popeye's chicken sandwiches and the controversy over the coming of Chick-fil-A.
