If you like creating arty images, blending your shots with textures is a quick and easy way to create a bespoke and stylised look. Incorporating different types of texture changes the way an image is perceived. Whether you go for a subtle blend or something much more pronounced, the process is transformative and can elevate a really simple shot into a piece of fine art. What’s more, you’re not limited to just one texture: by layering multiple textures and controlling where and how strongly they appear, you can mix up a vast range of different effects and styles.
Free with this issue is a set of 36 natural textures. Although they will work with any image, it’s often best to use simple subjects and compositions to start off. That way, you can let the textures do their work without overcrowding the image, and create a piece of fine art that’ll look great on the wall as well as in your portfolio. Get the textures from the Gifts folder on the disc, and let’s get started…
About your Natural Texture Pack
The natural texture files can be enlarged or reduced to any size using Free Transform, but each one is initially sized to A4. All texture images are in black and white, which prevents color casts from being introduced to the image they’re blended with; but if you wish, the color can be adjusted. (See step 4.)
