Ginger-Kale Smoothies
This vibrant smoothie is a sweet way to start your day. —Linda Green, Kilauea, Kauai, HI
Takes: 15 min. • Makes: 2 servings
1 1/4 cups orange juice
1 tsp. lemon juice
2 cups torn fresh kale
1 medium apple, peeled and coarsely chopped
1 Tbsp. minced fresh gingerroot
4 ice cubes
1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp. ground turmeric
Dash cayenne pepper
Place all ingredients in a blender; cover and process until blended. Pour into chilled glasses; serve immediately.

MAKE IT AHEAD!
For freezer packs, divide kale, apple, gingerroot and ice cubes evenly between 2 containers. Freeze. To make smoothies, add a frozen mixture to blender, then add half each of the orange juice, lemon juice, cinnamon, turmeric and cayenne pepper to make 1 serving.
