STAR LETTER
COMFORT CRAFTING
I find knitting such great therapy, it has helped me tremendously recently following the sudden death of my son. It helps calm the mind and still the soul and allows you, even if for a brief period of time, to relax, breathe and live in the moment. I have been busy knitting for all the new babies (little blessings) in our family circle at the moment. Hats, jumpers and my favourite, the little hero teddy bear featured in issue 174 of Simply Knitting. Thank you for a wonderful magazine - I have been enjoying it for years, and it is always full of wonderful advice, interesting articles and great patterns.
Robyn Bowie, via email We are so deeply sorry to hear about the loss of your son and hope that knitting, and our magazine, continues to be a solace for you.
Our star letter writer wins a fantastic gift voucher worth £50 from LoveCrafts! (Please note the winner must spend a minimum of £10, and the voucher is not applicable for use on sale items, downloadable PDFs and gift cards. Only for use at www.lovecrafts.com.
NICE AND ROSY
Here is my finished lattice jumper. Earlier this year I asked about the needle size for the sleeve which you kindly answered for me. I did the back in stocking stitch.
Val Steele, via email Wow, you are such a neat knitter! TOUCAN DO IT My fellow loves birds, so when he saw a picture of a toucan jumper in a magazine last summer, he subtly told me he would love to have one. I found this pattern in an 80's vintage book and knitted my first-ever jumper and my first intarsia. It took a few months, but I think he likes it!
Flavie Sauvageau, via email We'd never have guessed it was your first jumper - it's absolutely stunning.
