Try the Shayne bar stool, £155, Wayfair. Source vintage Formica tables at Vinterior. Mio Lichen chairs, £109 each, Tikamoon, have the same look
LIVING AREA Colour, texture and pattern combine to bring a modern twist to the vintage furnishings. Similar Hendricks sofa corner in Teal, £2,500; similar Berber flatweave rug, £350, both Habitat. Try the Noko natural wicker round pendant, £195, Nkuku
Not many people buy a kitchen before they've found the house it's meant to go in, but no one who knows designer Mairead Turner and her restaurateur husband Robin Hodgson is surprised to discover that this is what they did. When they fall in love with a beautiful bargain they snap it up and work out where to put it later. 'I came across a freestanding oak Habitat kitchen years ago on eBay,' laughs Mairead. 'I saw it, fell in love with it and bought it. It's been dragged around with us from place to place ever since, until we finally found a home for it here.'
HALLWAY The woodwork gets the vibrant treatment, too. Hencroft Azure wallpaper, £102 a roll, Little Greene
