HOME TRUTHS
THE PROPERTY 1950s fisherman's cottage
ROOMS Great room with sitting, dining, and additional seating area, kitchen, two bedrooms, two bathrooms. Lower level with second sitting room, bedroom, and bathroom
LOCATION Long Island, New York
HOW DID YOU FIND THIS HOUSE? I started my career in the Hamptons and I'd been keeping my eye on this area for years. When I heard that this 1950s fisherman's cottage was available I jumped at the chance to own it. It wasn't a simple fix but the location is extremely special.
WHAT WAS THE STARTING POINT FOR THE NEW LOOK? I wanted the home to feel modern, calming and sharp but also connected to the place so I designed it with the intention of bringing the outside in. I was inspired by the natural driftwood on the beach outside and chose unfinished wood for the panelling, paired with antique lumber beams sourced locally. The lines and furniture styles are modern, but the woods and leathers bring in a rustic feel.
