Govt offers stipend to needy Maratha students
Mumbai: Students from economically weaker background from the Maratha community pursuing professional education will now benefit from an annual stipend of Rs 60,000, as per similar criteria followed by the social welfare department for students from the SC/ST and OBC categories, announced higher and technical education minister Chandrakant Patil on Wednesday. Patil announced a host of schemes under the Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Research, Training and Human Development Institute (SARTHI), an autonomous institute formed under the state’s planning department. SARTHI was established for the social, economic and educational development of Maratha, Kunbi communities in 2018.
