Moderating inflation boosts economic fundamentals

Monetary policy to stay tight, interest rates to remain high
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das, while addressing the Kautilya Economic Conclave 2023, emphasized the importance of an actively disinflationary monetary policy. He stressed that such a policy is essential to ensure that the recent decline in inflation, which has fallen from its peak of 7.44% in July, continues smoothly.
India to launch semiconductor research centre in 2024
The Ministry of Electronics Technology (MeitY) is poised to launch the Bharat Semiconductor Research Centre in collaboration with industry and academia, beginning in 2024, announced Minister of State Rajeev Chandrasekhar. The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for Indian leadership in semiconductor research. A group of global and national semiconductor experts have designed the center, positioning it to be a leading institution in semiconductor research within the next four to five years. The nature of government investment, whether grants or equity for intellectual property rights, is yet to be decided.
