VICTIMS of the NHS contaminated blood scandal will be able to receive compensation payments for life, the Government has announced.

Tens of thousands will have better access to compensation after being infected with HIV and Hepatitis C in the worst NHS treatment disaster.

Under changes to a multi-billionpound compensation plan, all those registered with an infected blood support scheme before April 1 next year, including bereaved partners, will receive regular payments for life.

Around 3,000 are registered already.
