HARRY KANE called it a "dream come true" when he scored his first goal for England on his debut at Wembley.
That was on March 27, 2015, following a national clamour to get Kane in the England team after scoring 29 goals for Tottenham that season.
This was the kid who was released by Arsenal as a nine-year-old, farmed out on loan to Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich and Leicester City.
Now, nine years on, Kane will become the 10th player to reach 100 caps when he leads the team out against Finland at Wembley tomorrow.
And there is enough time and determination for Kane to close in on Peter Shilton's record of 125 caps. He wants to carry on for as long as possible and break more records.
They used to sing 'One Season Wonder' at Tottenham as fans worshipped a player they called 'One of Their Own' because he was the kid living out the dream.
The 31-year-old has never stopped dreaming and has never stopped working. This was the player who was told he was a "bit chubby" when Arsenal let him go... how he has made them eat their words.
If ever there was a weakness or flaw in his game, then Kane (in action against Ireland, below) would work on it. He was not seen as particularly quick so went to the gym, worked on his hamstrings, glutes and improved his acceleration.
