The Aruba Ducati rider stormed to his eighth win in nine races to secure a historic milestone for the Italian manufacturer at Assen, while boosting his points lead over Pata Yamaha's Toprak Razgatlioglu. Leading off the line from pole, he was troubled by both Kawasaki's Rea and Razgatlioglu in the early laps, but when Rea crashed out on lap six, Bautista quickly built comfortable lead, beating his Turkish rival by 3.915secs with Andrea Locatelli taking third.
"It's fantastic for Ducati and also for me," he said. "I got a good start and once I understood the areas where I could push, I tried my maximum. I really enjoyed the race and so happy to get this victory. The championship is long but it is always nice to start like this." Northern Ireland's Rea was annoyed at his mistake.
"I crashed on the front going into turn nine, zero idea how," he said. "I'm frustrated."
