LOR IN ORDER

LORIS KARIUS has been backed by Eddie Howe to write “a new chapter of his career” after his call-up for Newcastle’s Carabao Cup final.

The German keeper is in line to play his first competitive game for 728 days at Wembley against Manchester United on Sunday.

Karius was holidaying in Milan with his girlfriend Diletta Leotta on Monday before beginning preparation to deputise for Nicky Pope, who is banned after a red card against Liverpool on Saturday, as the Geordies bid for their first domestic trophy since 1955.

Howe has just two keepers to choose from – Karius or Mark Gillespie – as Martin Dubravka is cup-tied and Karl Darlow has been loaned to Hull.
