The disgraced movie mogul, who was already serving 23 years for a separate conviction, was found guilty in December of three counts related to the accuser known as Jane Doe 1, The LA jury found Weinstein, 70, not guilty of sexual battery by restraint involving a second accuser, identified as Jane Doe 2, and was unable to reach verdicts for allegations by two further women.
Before being handed 16 years, Weinstein told the court: "I maintain that I'm innocent. I never raped or sexually assaulted Jane Doe 1." His victim sobbed in the courtroom as he spoke.
Moments earlier she had told the court: "Before that night I was a very happy and confident woman. I was excited about my future. Everything changed after the defendant brutally assaulted me." Weinstein is expected to appeal.
