BEN STOKES' eyes were glazed and a smile was stretched across his face - it I could have been Headingley 2019.

Except the joy and the elation of that day were replaced by a rueful realisation that victory had been swapped for defeat and his team had become just the fourth ever to lose a match, this time by a solitary run, after enforcing the follow-on.

Four years ago, Stokes (inset) was in a daze at what he had just achieved in the narrowest of victories over Australia, but this time in Wellington he was on the other end of the result, yet the smile was still there.
