BRITAIN saw a huge weather gulf yesterday - with a 19C temperature difference felt between the north and south.
People in London felt the most brutal conditions as the mercury plunged to -9.5C in Santon Downham, Suffolk.
In a reversal of traditional weather patterns, northern parts escaped the big freeze, with temperatures at 10.1C in Kinlochewe in the Highlands.
