Ukraine urges West to let it fire weapons across the border at forces in Russia

UKRAINE last night ramped up pressure on the West to let it fire missiles deep into Russia – as Moscow threatened to melt Kyiv with high-tech weapons.

But Ukraine’s plea was left undecided after Keir Starmer flew home yesterday from crunch talks in Washington, with no change in US president Joe Biden’s position.

Britain and France have already supplied Ukraine with Storm Shadow cruise missiles, made jointly by the two, but only for use on Russian targets inside its own border.

And while both countries have indicated they would be willing to lift that restriction, US approval is needed too as they include parts made in America.
