A LONG WEEKEND IN...DENMARK

WHY GO?

Nicknamed the city of smiles, the compact city of Aarhus is located on the Jutland peninsula, overlooking the Kattegat Sea, which separates Denmark and Sweden. Although it is one of Denmark’s oldest cities, it has a lively feel and young population, thanks to its university and a vibrant arts, culture and foodie scene.

EXPLORE THE LATIN QUARTER

The Aarhus river runs through the charming Latin Quarter, which has cobbled streets and painted, timbered houses bordered with hollyhocks. Small, independent shops and cafes teem with people shopping, socialising and eating at outdoor tables.

Cafe-bakery La Cabra is an unmissable treat – its apple cardamom buns are melt-in-the mouth delicious. On the main square is an impressive Gothic cathedral– the tallest in Denmark. Pop in to see the remarkable frescoes and a model ship suspended from the ceiling.
