The Desh 17 August issue tries to locate the greater impact of the Manipur crisis on the politics and society of India, through three essays written by Supriyo Chowdhury, Subhamoy Maitra and Tajuddin Ahmed.
An exclusive interview by Sayam Bandyopadhyay of the internationally renowned author Amitav Ghosh forms a special attraction of this issue.
The issue also sees the beginning of new serialization— a non-fiction work,Timir Abagunthane, on Rabindranath Tagore's metaphysical quest and findings by the eminent historian Rajatkanta Ray.
A previously unpublished essay-memoir (‘Baishe Sravana’) by the Tagore-aide Sudhakanta Raychaudhuri is also included in this issue.
Regular sections like the serialized novel Shunya Pather Mallika by Smaranjit Chakrabarty, Mantabya, Granthalok, Kabita, Galpo, Shilpo Sanskriti, Chithipatra, Seshkatha etc are there as usual.
