मई की 11 तारीख को भारत के मुख्य न्यायाधीश डी. वाइ. चंद्रचूड़ की अगुआई वाली सुप्रीम कोर्ट की पांच सदस्यीय संविधान पीठ ने सर्वसम्मति से दिल्ली की आम आदमी पार्टी (आप) सरकार के पक्ष में एक फैसला सुनाया तो एकबारगी यही लगा कि केंद्र सरकार के साथ दिल्ली की आप सरकार का आठ साल से जारी झगड़ा सुलझ गया है कि राष्ट्रीय राजधानी क्षेत्र (एनसीटी) में अफसरों के तबादले और तैनाती का अधिकार किसके पास होना चाहिए, लेकिन दिल्ली आप सरकार को इस फैसले से मिली शक्तियां अधिक समय तक टिक नहीं सकी और 19 मई को केंद्र की भाजपा सरकार ने एक अध्यादेश जारी कर सुप्रीम कोर्ट के आदेश को पलट दिया. अध्यादेश का सार यह है कि अफसरों के तबादलों और तैनाती में उपराज्यपाल (एलजी) की ही चलेगी. कोर्ट के फैसले का सीधा मतलब था कि नौकरशाहों के ट्रांसफर-पोस्टिंग का अधिकार आप सरकार के पास रहेंगे और इस अधिकार का इस्तेमाल भी दिल्ली सरकार ने शुरू कर दिया था.
