Mick Eugene Fanning is one of surfing’s enduring success stories. From his early years blowing minds as a teen with fellow ‘Coolie Kids’ Parko and Dingo to now, at the age of 36, the three-time world champion is still razor sharp. Even after taking a personal year off the tour in 2016 he’s cruised back in to the top 16 with just Pipeline to go in 2017. Hell, he finished 17th in 2016 only doing five of the 11 events. He is in short one of those guys that is lethal to draw at most locations and with 22 event wins only Fiji, Margies and Pipe are missing from his trophy cabinet. He has won at every other stop on tour and is enduringly popular worldwide thanks to his laconic wit and warmth. He’s a role model of how to be a pro and a good human.
